Overview

After the public consultation events back in July 2025, Russell LDP submitted the planning application to the Stockport Planning Committee in late September 2025.

The development will deliver many residential and community infrastructure benefits in response to local needs. The proposal includes a GP or dental practice, a children's day nursery, retail space, allotments, two play areas and a 15-acre nature park. Wildlife and nature will be emphasised throughout the development with habitat enhancements that include nature trails, a mix of waterbodies and wildflower meadows accessed via new cycle and footpaths. All of this is to be supervised by a dedicated management company.

Russell LDP own the land and has generated a vision that complements the neighbouring Woodford Garden Village.

In November 2025, the council included the site within Stockport's emerging draft local plan, further establishing Woodford as a favoured development location.
