Resolution to Grant Planning Permission secured in March 2025

Overview

Russell LDP secured resolution to grant a Hybrid Planning Permission from Stockport Planning Committee in March 2025, subject to section 106 and conditions.

The Hybrid Planning application was submitted alongside Stockport Rugby Union Football Club (SRUFC) and includes the provision of an artificial grass pitch to replace the existing grass pitch, the erection of extensions and enhancements to the clubhouse. SRUFC is located to the south of Jacksons Lane and is separated by Wallbank Road.

The development will deliver many benefits including, 60% affordable homes, 10% supported housing, a children's play area, biodiversity net gain, a new artificial grass pitch to enable all-weather use and dedicated usage for schools. SRUFC's clubhouse will also see an extension and refurbishments including a disabled lift and accessible toilets, private changing facilities for women, a first aid and purpose physio room.
